Infertility. Adoption.
What do you think about when you hear these words?
I think of those who are struggling to build their family or unable to have children.
Or those with unexpected pregnancies who are not yet prepared for parenthood.
Chances are someone you know has battled infertility or has been touched by adoption.
Infertility is often unexpected.
This unforeseen life crisis left me distraught, and facing shattered dreams of having several children of my own was heartbreaking.
For a long time, I didn't have the strength to speak openly about my struggle. It's hard to be infertile in a fertile world, especially when most build their families as planned.
Adoption can be a healthy process.
It isn't a cure for infertility. It's a separate path that takes time, effort, and patience.
My son's birth mother placed him with us out of great love and care, and having an open relationship with her has been beneficial for everyone.
Now that my son is older, I'm sharing my story to help spread awareness of these often misunderstood topics.
If you are going through infertility, I see you and understand how scared, confused, and isolated you may feel.
If you are considering adoption or have adopted, I see you and understand how emotionally complex this process is.
If you haven't experienced either, I ask you to see those navigating these difficult journeys. Listen to their stories and offer support.
The act of simply being there for others going through challenging family situations can make a big difference.
